Question:
Do you want to keep your boa and help save the snake hobby in general?

There is a federal python ban that is trying to ban several species of boas in the US.

The main ones at risk:
1) Boa Constrictor Constrictor (BCC)
2) Boa Constrictor Imperator (BCI)
3) Boa Constrictor Amarali
4) Boa Constrictor Longicauda
5) Boa Constrictor Melanogaster
6) Boa Constrictor Nebulosa
7) Boa Constrictor Occidentalis
8) Boa Constrictor Orophias
9) Boa Constrictor Ortonii
10) Boa Constrictor Sabogae

We know this includes all red-tails, island boas, and dwarf boas, but, depending on their definition of boa, it may include all of the tree boas, rainbow boas, rubber boas, Rosy Boas, and the three Madagascar species.

These are not all the giant snakes you see in zoos, most of these top out at 6-10 feet. If the government can ban a 6 foot nonvenomous snake, image all the other reptiles that may be put at risk of becoming banned.

Even if you don't own one of these species you need to take part. This battle started in 2008 and this may be our chance to finally win! I don't personally own any of these snakes, but I do have ball pythons. If they can get these snakes banned, ball pythons may not be far behind.

A great site to look up some of the snakes included in this ban

I would hate for Boas to be banned as pets considering the fact that these are my favorite nonvenomous species of snake in the world and I still have yet to own one, but until that day comes I at least hope that they won't be illegal and can remain pets for future generations to come and for the other poster above me ^ don't listen to him/her because they know nothing about snakes and how great of a pet they can be, but I would hate for the B.C.C. and B.C.I. or any species of boas including the tree, sand, and rosy to be banned, we must do something before something bad happens because it's not really them trying to ban them as pets because their "wild animals", it's just they no nothing about snakes and want to ban all animals including domesticated species such as dogs and cats, its just how they want life to be and want to take the fun out of everything, but yeah I would love to continue keeping snakes as pets until the day that I die until then they can: KISS MY A**! for all I care.

I can understand your side here but you have to understand the opposing side. People are bringing snakes in from countries like africa and the snakes are ending up in populated areas, either by a person not wanting it anymore, they can't handle it anymore or from a nature disaster hitting and freeing them, due to how many off spring snakes can have Florida literally has had a snake population explosion and it's getting worse. These snakes, no matter if the are six feet or sixteen, they are going to end up in someone's how and kill someone.

So unless you take proper procedures in securing the snake and don't just toss it out your window when your done with it or done want it, you shouldn't have them, same with other pets or wildlife that shouldnt be pets.
