I would go to http://ball-pythons.net to get good advice on how to handle an aggressive snake. There may be husbandry problems so you need to read their caresheets real well and make sure your setup is just right for him. For example: do you have at least 2 hides? Is the basking temp 90 measured with a digital thermometer or temp gun? Is the humidity at least 50%. How old is the snake and what was his previous situation? Baby balls normally won't show this type of aggression but occasionally there does exist a particularly pissy snake.

And I just have to comment on an's advice. Seriously? We're talking about a ball, not a burmese python. I really don't think you need to fear for your life if he were to constrict, lol. And you certainly don't need to be afraid of handling him alone. Even at the most aggressive, the worst he could do is put a few teeth marks in you!

Your snake is in a new environment and needs some time to settle in.

Your Python is probably striking at you because he is stressed. I recommend you take a look at this page for more information: http://www.myballpythoncare.com/?p=101

I once bought a Python a few years ago, which was an adult and very aggressive (I did not know she was aggressive until I got her home). The fist time I went to handle her she went straight for my face! I had never had one go to bite me before so you can image the shock. But as she settled she got tamer and she now is the tamest snake I own.

Just give him time to settle into his new environment.

Is the python an adult, if so then it has never been tamed, and it is too dangerous to tame it now, considering it's size. If it is still a baby, wear gloves and hold it forcefully every day, make sure there is someone with you in case the snake tries to strangle u. Eventualy, u won't need to use gloves anymore. Even after he becomes tame, don't hold him alone. Good luck

all snakes are semi agressive mate first of all dont handle it if you have just fed it, secondly make sure you have washed your hands before handling to get the scent of the mouse of them, and thirdly just go straight in the tank and grab the royal gently, then let it keep running through your hands for at least 30 minutes then put it back in its tank ,keep repeating this procedure every day ,your snake will become very tame ,they strike because they dont no who you are, you might be a threat to it ,it does it to survive hope this helps

Are you sure you did enough research before you got this snake for your dad? He might be a bit nervous from the move, how long have you had him? If he's new you need to let them settle before you handle it, try checking with whoever you bought him off and see if they handled it much before you bought it if not he might just be used to humans and will need some handling to get used to you but might settle down after a while.

Hope I helped :)

in case you feed him stay nutrition its very a threat that he will grow to be very puzzling to handle (comprehend this from expierence). my ball python won't take nutrition except its shifting, to get around this concern jointly as nevertheless feeding prekilled nutrition, i exploit a gadget for choosing up screws, its an prolonged (2 ft) grabber it is spring loaded. virtually any ironmongery shop could inventory them, i additionally warmth the nutrition to physique temp by skill of putting it in a tray and putting the tray into warm water. try this till now feeding stay is my suggestion. wish this facilitates.
