They are a lot of sankes you can get that don't eat mice. Like a gartner snakes, rubber boas, spike tail snakes, spike tails only get about 14in tops and only eat snails and slugs. They have another name I'm not sure what it is, ring neck snakes are good. Or grass snakes. Most these snakes can eat crickets, frogs, small fish like a tiny gold fish or minos, grasshoppers

Corn snake for beginners. Tell her you'll feed it frozen mice. Which you buy in the freezer at petco/petsmart and thaw them out. They are safer for the snake also, as the mice cannot bite the snake.

Well snakes eat mice so either way you will have to get over that. But I recommend the African ball python. I'm getting my first one tomorrow in the mail.

RUBBER BOA!!! there gray and only get up to like a foot or two there very nice and never bite. mine wasn't very active but I still loved him!! if you do get one, great and a tip for your mom to not be scared is get two containers one an actual cage for him to live in and when you're feeding him put him into the other container and do this every time you feed him so he knows if he goes into the other container he knows he's getting food and if not, your sticking your hand in there to play with him if you don't do this they will get used to food being dropped in the cage and if one day you want to play with him and you stick your hand in there and get bit it's because he/she is expecting food. btw I just fed mine pinkies not actual full size mice! I hope you get one! hope I helped!
