A snake ate my robins eggs!?

There was a robin nest with 3 blue eggs under my 10 foot deck. I check on them every day. Today I was looking through my sliding glass door and saw a 4-4.8 foot long black snake peering in. My friend did away with it(which I was not pleased of). I checked later and all the eggs are gone? What happened did he eat them?
