Is there any other reptile I can house with a red eye crocodile skink?

I have a 40 gallon critter tank. I would like two lizards that look different from each other. If not the crocodile skink I might get a fire skink. Any ideas?

fire skinks require different care (tribs need higher humidity for starts.)
Also (as I sure u know as it must have cropped up in your research) tribs are easily stressed and often somewhat flighty and housing another animal will likely cause stress related problems.
also have u considered
aggression (fire skinks are known to sometimes be bitey)
disease/parasite/pathogen transfer
habitat (how well will you be able to house these 2 species together)
food competition
the list goes on
alot of people are completely against mixing species and for good reason I've seen it work a few times but done by people who have worked with both species PRIOR to mixing and know what to look out for in large well thought-out bespoke vivariums I would not recommend it especially what your suggesting.
40 gal sounds about the correct size for 2 tribs (crocodile skinks) so why not just get a second.

You can house some other reptiles in with him, im not sure what but it can be dangerous housing two different animals togather so I would go with just the skink.

Generally you can't...Different species need different care and you wouldn't be able to meet both their needs at once.
Even with ones of the same species they often can't be housed together (Such as blue tongue skinks) because they'll fight and the close quarters stress them out.

First i'd choose on how a lot area I actually have accessible to make a reliable domicile for my puppy reptile. 2d how a lot may I be spending on its domicile/cage. third i'd choose on how accessible a food source replaced into for it also and the price. Beardies an truly personable and luxuriate in sitting on your shoulder, in basic terms putting out. Leopard Geckos will chill with you for awhile yet will finally favor to hit upon. Tortoises determination in length yet can stay an truly lengthy existence and are in truth vegetarians. Diamondback Terrapins have great personalities yet do require a water setup and could require more effective housing even as they become older. that is what is going to fit on your funds and what you sense may ultimate in good structure your needs. those I indexed are very hardy and are in truth effortless to look after. i'd do slightly heavy learn on them and make certain out which may be ultimate. keep in mind pets are a duty and assume you to preserve their needs. reliable success on your selection. in my opinion I delight in my Corns and DBTs.
