ok well i dont think the mealies would enjoy the cricket cubes, but you can try ... What i do is put my mealies a sterlite bin and poke holes in the lid so oxygen can travel through... the first answer is correct i use old fashioned oatmeal flakes as bedding you just put that all over the bottom of the bin ..then you can drop in the cubes but i wouldn't use em, they're for the main feeders' crickets so what most people do is give the mealies a various amount of nutritional foods such as veggies or fruits, i use carrots, potatoe, sweet potatoe.apples, and lettuce, but trust me they love the carrots...dont use woodshavings the bedding once again should be wheat bran, oatmeal flakes.

You can take the mealworms out of the PetSmart container and put them in a plastic shoe box. You can get these for $1 at most dollar stores. Then line the shoe box with a couple layers of paper towels. Pick the mealworms out, and put them in the shoe box. Then you can put the orange cubes in there about a day or so before you feed them to whoever you're giving them to. You don't have to use the orange cubes all the time, that can get expensive. You really don't have to use them at all. The mealworms will eat bran cereal - the same kind you do - and you can buy a cheap store brand that's still got vitamins and minerals added to it. Just get something without nuts, fruit, or yogurt added. And a a slice or two of raw potato about 1/4 of an inch thick for a water source. You can replace the potato every week, and add to the cereal as necessary. If you want you can get a calcium or vitamin and mineral supplement and sprinkle a little extra on the food the day before you feed. And I mist the toweling lightly about twice a week.

And if you have enough mealworms, it's not unusual for them to breed in a setup like I described. So it may be worth it to you to buy a few extra shoe boxes and a few extra mealworms, and breed your own food supply.

Whether you're breeding, or just keeping them until you feed them to something else, I think the way I'm keeping them will be cheaper in the long run.

If you are going to be gut loading them, put them in about a 5-10 gallon tank with 2-4 inches of plain oatmeal bedding and put in some potatoes, fruit, vegetables, that cricket diet, and a water pillow. Change the bedding every 2 weeks.
