First of all, WOW ! Congratulations on a nice BIG habitat. :)

I also have a 125 gallon tank and boy are they a lot of work.

But, they can be VERY cool.

Well, since you are a beginner and it is your first lizard, and your ABSOLUTELY sure you want a lizard - something fast moving with a tail lol (and not a turtle or tortoise), then.....

Go For Leopard Geckos, and a desert style habitat.

These are not only my choice as a 1st lizard; but seem to be the choice of many other reptile enthusiasts, and would be what I would get personally if I wanted a lizard.

If properly cared for they can get to be 8 - 9 inches long!

That's big! :) Bigger is better in a tank your size. You don't want to hunt around all day to try to find some puny 3 inch Anole hiding in the corner!!

Do as much reading as possible and pay close attention to ALL their requirements. See all the links below.

Good Brand heat lamp? Well now, T-Rex, Exo Terra and Zoo Med all make heat lamps about the same quality.

After you read about ALL the requirements, compare prices on what's available, and remember you usually get the quality what you pay for. (The more expensive stuff is usually better.)

Good Luck to You And Your Future Pet !

I think a Leopard Gecko would be the easiest. The reason is that because they are nocturnal and don't see the sun, you get to skip the whole UVB UVA nonsense that is so expensive to do properly when caring for a sun loving lizard like a beardie. There is a difference between a heat lamp and a UVB/UVA lamp, and for diurnal species you'll need both, but for a Leo, you just need the heat lamp.

To the guy who would put geckos in with a bearded dragon to make a whole ecosystem (LOL)- That sounds like a feeding day for a beardie.

a leopard gecko is the easiest lizard too care for you only need to feed it meal worms when its a baby and when its older you need to feed it crickets and you could fit about 8 in 125 gallon tank and any brand heat lamp is fine but you have to have at least two so they'll be happy

i would say and anole because all u need is a lamp to heat the tank and and food and your good plus a spray bottle would be useful and their very active so u can play with it. U should get about 7 of them because your tank is huge

Well i'd recommend a bearded dragon,(just 1) or a leopard gecko which i have, have silky bodies, big eyes, and very friendly but noctornal, they still come out tho, just try laying your hand inside for it to get used to. They are really amazing and you feed them worms and locusts/crickets.lovely.

well...I think that leopard geckos are great, i have one and my sister does as well. they're REALLY easy to care for, dont need too much, and are really great pets. basically all you need to do is feed em, give them water, and scoop their poop, and give them attention. not too hard. I've had mine since i was eight, and basically did everything myself except for buy the food. i cant really think a better sounding then leopard geckos. for heating with mine it just has a heating pad, and a light (i think it gives heat too) anyways they're really awesome, and easy pets to take care of(they also don't cost too much if u already have the terrarium.)

The best would be to get a bearded dragon for such a huge tank. You could also get lots and lots of geckos and form a little ecosystem!

The best "bigginer" lizards are geckos. Desert geckos are pretty great!
