it is NOT rule of thumb to feed them nothing bigger than the widest part of their "jaw" area, it is actually rule of thumb to feed them nothing bigger than the widest part of the snakes body. if the snake is the size of your thumb at the widest i would say either a mouse hopper or a rat pup. im not sure of what you mean by pen. if you meant a ballpoint pen then a mouse pinky is good. if you abbreviated "penny" then a peach fuzzy (mouse pinky) would be best.

Rule of thumb for all snakes is feed them nothing bigger than the widest part of their "jaw" area, so probably pinkies or mouse hoppers.
