How to get uneaten crickets out of vivarium?

So i have 2 adult leopard geckos. I usually feed them locusts. As recommended by a vet, i put a box of locusts in the fridge for up to 20 mins to slow them down, then open the box in the viv. My geckos go straight for them after they start jumping about as they warm up. I've never had any issues doing that, i know a lot of people say its bad, but they always seem to eat them all within the night.

About 2 or 3 days ago i went to the pet shop to buy my locusts, but they had no decent locusts, and my leo's need to eat! I made a risk and bought crickets, which i havent fed to me leo's in a long time, mainly because their noise keeps me up at night. After i put the box of crickets in the viv, i went to bed, but 2 days later theres still a lot of crickets left in there, they dont seem interested.

I need a way to get the crickets out i think, rather than leave them in there for much longer. I've put a bit of potato in there, hoping they'll all go to that corner, so i can at least clean out the viv a bit. (I am managing to change their water and feces enough) Bare in mind i HATE jumpy insects, so the last thing i want is crickets around my room. Anyone got any suggestions?

Try placing an empty paper towel tube in there. Crickets tend to go inside them and you can lower a plastic bag into the enclosure and shake the tube into it. You won't catch them all but you should get alot of them that way.



I breed crickets and use this method to remove them from their breeding containers.

Paper towel tube is great ( provided no other dark hiding spots in tank ). I found putting a few dry pieces of dog food in the tube will attract them even more. Good luck.
