No...please do not feed your iguana insects!! While this used to be standard procedure, it is no longer recommended! It can cause gout and kidney problems. You can check out the following site for more explanation.

Here is why you do not want to feed your green iguana insects. Iguanas need to have a 2:1 Calcium to Phosphorus ratio in their diet for proper calcium metabolism. This means that for two parts of Calcium there is one part Phosphorus.

Insects have a 1:30 Calcium to Phosphorus ratio. What this means to your iguana, is that the kidneys work overtime to filter out all of that Phosphorus, because the green iguana is not suited for that much Phosphorus.

Recent studies of iguanas in the wild show that they do not eat bugs at any stage of life. Their body is that of an herbivore, with a "hindgut" that breaks down plant fibers.

This hindgut is similer to that of horses and cattle in the mammel world. And we all know what happened when they started feeding meat byproducts to cows, who are also herbivore. Mad Cow Disease.

Your iguana won't get Mad Iguana Disease, but it will get kidney disease and ultimately, kidney failure, which leads to premature death.

Stay away from bugs, animal protein, or even commercial iguana food that is corn based. Corn has a 1:30 Calcium to Phosphorus ratio.

If these are dead canned insects. Yes they are very good and contain proper nutriants needed to sustain your iguanas health. The world of reptiles can be overwhelming at times but some people hear things from others that arnt correct. I myself have been handeling reptiles all my life. I would suggest a rounded diet or greens and insects. I like to call it a bug salad. Mix things up at times they enjoy it. And stray away from meat. They can eat it but only if it was introduced to them as juveniles. Feeding it to an adult will cause health problems. Hope i helped :p

Insect are not good for igaunas. They need a well rounded vegetarian diet. There is alot of info availible on feeding iguanas, do a google search, or find a good book. You can also find info at www.kingsnake.com

Only if your iguana is a meat eating type. The most common ones sold are plant eaters, they don't need insects.

Well Yeah!

Iguana eats insects and if they sell insects for iguanas they should be good for them.

Do not feed your iguana meat. They are vegetarians. It could offend them.
