Most common problem is their feet and toes not sheding correctly, make sure to check their feet and remove the sheded skin to avoid this problem, soak his feet in a tub of warm water to help. Also carpet can cause this also as someone else posted. Make sure to keep the injury clean you can use neospoine on it this will help as well, a saline solution works great as a cleaner do not use hydrigine proxide yet as it kills the damaged tissue if after a week you see infection, you can take him to the vet, our soak the foot in saline with warm water let the dead skin sluff off use some proxiode and neospoine, biggest thing keep it clean and watch for infection.

Chances are your iguana has been on the carpet. Sometimes the little fibers or strings that make up the carpet can tangle around the toes of an iguana , cutting of the circulation. This will eventually 'kill' the toe, causing it to rot and fall off. Not to worry though, ther eshould be no adverse affects on the iguanas overall health.

By the way, NEVER USE CEDAR around your iguana or in its enclosure. I lost a pet of several years like that because I did not know it was poison to them.

Make sure all of the old skin he is shedding is off his toes.

I don't own an iguana, but I know Leopard Geckos will loose toes if old skin is allowed to build up.

It cuts off circulation.
