I was in my backyard today, and a very odd creature was making it's way up my porch. It's a very slimy looking lizard (I think) with a scaly, like a snake, red head. Below is a picture of him. He's very calm, to say the least. I wasn't sure what I needed to do to get him out of the screened in porch, but I don't know if he's poisonous or such. Please help me out.

It's a broad-headed skink.

They are not venomous, but will bite. If you can, just place one of your hands over the body (flat palmed). Pin her firmly but gently and slowly wrap your fingers around her body (index finger around the neck), take her outside and put her near some bushes. You can put a bucket just under her as she might just jump when you approach. You can cover the bucket and take her outside. Make sure the door to your house is closed and the screen door leading outside is open. They fewer objects for her to climb under will make it easier to scoot her out the door with a broom (gently prodding). Alternatively, you can lay a large sheet on the floor under her. If she falls and lands on the sheet, try to fold the sheet over her as quickly as possible, take her out side and open it and scoot her off.

BTW. They aren't slimy, they are just shiny. The feel kind of like glass or porcelain.

I saw one similar today, in Eastern Washington. The description that fits what I saw was the skink. It was black, with yellow stripes and had that blue tail. It moved like the description said as well, quick side to side motions almost like a snake.

Looks like a Skink but I'm not much of a lizard and reptile expert.
