There are a number of tortoises in the world; these are a general overview of tortoises:
New World Tortoises
-Red-Footed Tortoise, which can include at least half-of-a-dozen morphologies (my favorite morph being Ivory Cherry-Headed Red-Footed Tortoise)
-Yellow-Footed Tortoise, which include a few morphologies.
-Galapagos Tortoise, multiple subspecies, generally is considered the largest tortoise in the world.
-Gopher Tortoise, rare, endangered and on the decline.
Common Old World Tortoises
-Sulcata Tortoise, common tortoise; very large and very expensive to take care of; is the largest mainland tortoise in the world.
-Leopard Tortoise, including the South African Giant Tortoise and the common Leopard Tortoise.
-Kleinmann's Tortoise, a rare species found only in Egypt, aka Egyptian Tortoise.
-Hermann's Tortoise, a Mediterranean Tortoise.
-Marginated Tortoise, again, a Mediterranean Tortoise, another pretty-large tortoise.
-Russian Tortoise, well-known tortoise species; does have a brumation cycle.
-Greek Tortoise, this one is another species with quite a few morphologies available.

-Malagasy Spider Tortoise
-Madagascan Flat-Shelled Spider Tortoise
-Indian Star Tortoise
-Sri Lankan Star Tortoise
-Radiated Tortoise
-Forsten's Tortoise
-Burmese Mountain Tortoise
-Pancake Tortoise
-Elongated Tortoise
-Aldabra Tortoise, the contender for the first largest tortoise in the world.
