What are the odds of a ball python escaping and killing a cat?

So heres my problem. One of my dreams is to own a spider morph ball python.
However, my mom is one of those people whos seen/heard to many stories of anacondas eating men and full grown animals, as well as too many killer snake movies.

She is.100% convinced that a ball python would escape its terrarium...and kill her cat.
From what Ive read they are the most docile, and most would ball up before going in and attacking. Her cat is near 12 pounds, would a ball python try to take him on...for whatever reason? That is if the snake escapes its cage, which.knowing me id take every step to guarantee that would never happen.

(ball python.owners) Have you ever had a problem with your snake involving a cat or dog?

For the sake of my mother I might be able to show her this. She understands my passion for these beautiful animals but she is just stuck on the idea she`ll come home and her cat will be dead.

It would be all but completely impossible for a ball python to kill a 12 pound cat. And it would be impossible for it to even try to eat it.

BUT, let me say this. It has nothing to do with the fact that you think they are "Docile", it has to do with the fact the the cat is far, far too big to eat. Anything that is of a suitable prey size, you should never leave alone with the snake. No matter how "Sweet" it seems to you. But in the case of a ball python, anything larger than a guinea pig is safe, lol.

Personally, I would be more worried that the cat would get ahold of the snake. I have a close friend with a full grown ball python. She also owns several birds, two of which are snack sized finches, as well as a cat. Nothing.

I'm not saying you should ever leave the two alone together, but its highly unlikely. I actually have both a boa constrictor and a 12 pound dog. Just keep snake clips/locks on its cage and you should be good.

None. You have nothing to worry about :) except the cat killing the python.
