CHAMELEON VIVARIUM SET-UP

Unless you are super-rich you do not want to keep buying more vivariums as your chameleon grows.

Bearing in mind that Yemen's grow to about 18" long fairly quickly it is far more economical to buy a large vivarium at the start.

Chameleons cannot tolerate high temperatures, low humidity or stale air.

You need a aluminium or nylon mesh vivarium such as a Zoo Med XL ReptiBreeze

or better still theZoo Med IguanArium

or the Exo Terra 100 gallon Flexarium

Mount a 100 watt mercury vapour UV & Heat lamp on the top of the metal mesh to provide heat and essential ultra-violet light.

With nylon mesh suspend the lamp a couple of inches away from the roof to prevent the heat of the lamp melting the mesh.

Substrate should be a thin layer of FINE Orchid [Reptile] Bark

You also need a good quality spray bottle as chameleons do not drink from standing water, only from spray or water droplets on leaves.

Many local tree branches produce toxic resins, only use commercially prepared branches for your lizard or use FRUIT Tree branches as none are known to contain toxins.

You need good quality dusting supplements such as,

Rep-Cal Herptivite Multivitamin with Beta Carotene

Rep-Cal Calcium without D3

Dust all live food with the calcium 5-days-a-week and the vitamin powder the other two days.

Here hope this helps: You'll need a pvc cage setup where if you search on youtube you'll find the website, next you'll need calcium without d3, calcium with d3, plant of some sort that looks tropical is safe and edible like the ficus make sure it has no pesticides, UV bulb, basking bulb, mister or a spray bottle, food cup, repti bark at the bottom of the setup just don't let it's food get down there, bendable vine that you can buy at your local pet store (this is great so they can move around the setup more), obviously the chameleon itself which if you go to veiledchameleon.com they are great there and you can find most of this stuff here also, mealworms, crickets, waxworms, etc. food sources, damp lettuce tied to one of the vines so if they get thirsty during the night when your not misting they can get a drink, and I think that's it but you better be ready to spend 300-400 dollars on all of this but if this pet is too expensive for you like it was for me then I reccomend a leopard gecko since they are a lot more friendly, and active then chameleon's and require a very simple setup but it's your choice hope this helps :)

sounds like extremely the deal! Chameleons, greater often than no longer, make terrible "pets".......I say this with the observe "puppy" in ideas..........even with the incontrovertible fact that Veiled Chameleons make dazzling captive chameleons as long as you undertake a "palms off coverage". tension is the enemy here, and pointless dealing with reasons tension. dealing with could be administered purely while needed. EDIT AFTER extra comments : -those tanks sound advantageous...even possibly too huge for toddlers (as they could each now and then "dissappear interior the foliage", yet def super adequate for adults. If the toddlers weren't scared to climb on then you curiously such as you purchased a effective pair of V.Chameleons there-------->much less under pressure they are going to be, reliable for you. I nevertheless would not make a factor out of popular handeling nevertheless. -additionally.........it extremely is recommended to ascertain the size on your Boa lower back. the worldwide checklist became into measured from a wild speciman in Trinidad at 18.5 ft long.
